Like most dogs, Winnie loves the simple pleasures in life — long walks, favorite toys, and cozy moments with her family. But there’s one thing she’s not entirely thrilled about: when someone gets a little too enthusiastic with affection.
Enter Buck. A few months ago, Winnie’s home welcomed a new member: a playful, bouncy puppy with a boundless love for the world. Whereas Winnie tends to be a bit reserved and socially awkward, Buck has zero concept of personal space — he’s a full-on love bug.
“He’ll smother anyone he meets with kisses — humans, animals, even objects,” Winnie’s mom, Em McClure, told The Dodo. “He just wants everyone and everything to feel loved.”
For Winnie, Buck’s affectionate nature took some adjustment. While she enjoys cuddles and gentle licks, Buck’s over-the-top smooching style is a lot to handle. Still, she’s learned to go along with it — even if her expression suggests mild exasperation.
Though her facial expressions sometimes show discomfort, Winnie has never once snapped at Buck. “We think she’s actually accepted, and even enjoys, his attention,” McClure said. “It’s become their little routine.”
As evenings settle in, Buck usually conks out first. That’s when Winnie takes the lead, nudging him for snuggles and cuddles before bedtime.
“It’s obvious she’s completely smitten with her little buddy,” McClure shared.
