On the very first morning in their new house, Kaylee Massey was startled awake by her children β€” not because they were loud, but because they were standing in her room proudly holding a bunny. There was just one problem: the family didn’t own a bunny.

Rewind about 10 days earlier, when the Masseys got the keys to their new home. While Kaylee worked inside, the kids ran straight to the backyard β€” and there, hopping around, was a fluffy black rabbit.

β€œAt first we thought it was just a wild bunny in the neighborhood,” Massey explained in a TikTok video.

But then they discovered a note left behind by the previous homeowners. It revealed that the rabbit was actually a pet who liked to live under the shed during the warmer months. The former owners hadn’t managed to catch him before moving out, but said they’d be happy to return for him β€” or the Masseys could keep him if they wished.

For Kaylee’s animal-loving kids, the note felt like a challenge. They made it their mission to catch the bunny, and sure enough, on move-in morning, they succeeded.

The children named their new furry friend Cooper, and from that moment on, he was part of the family.

Kaylee and the kids immediately went out to buy supplies β€” food, treats, and everything a bunny could want. Moving tasks were put on pause, because Cooper’s comfort came first.

Within just one day, the Masseys were smitten. Their new home had come with an unexpected bonus β€” a sweet rabbit who now had a forever family.
