Newly Opened Cat Café Gives Home to Seven Abandoned Kittens
A recently opened cat café in Dartford is providing a loving home for seven kittens who were abandoned just before Christmas.
At Mrs. Slocombe’s Cat Café on Chatham High Street, customers can enjoy the company of the six male and one female siblings, along with the café’s nine other rescued cats.
A Heartwarming Rescue
Co-director Jackie Cousins said she chose to take in all seven kittens—who were found left in a cat carrier—because they had always been together.
“They’ve always been together, so I couldn’t separate them!” she explained.
The kittens are named after characters from the 1970s BBC sitcom Are You Being Served? Their names are Miss Brahms, Captain Peacock, Mr. Lucas, Mr. Rumbold, Mr. Grace, Mr. Harman, and another Mr. Grace.
Supporting the Community
Fellow co-director Glinda Bishop emphasized that the café aims to support local animal rescue charities and mental health initiatives.
“A lot of people find it therapeutic to spend time with the cats,” she said.
“We hope to become a big part of the community and work with charities that help people struggling with mental health issues.”
