He’s made it his mission to help them.

Despite living in one of the world’s most difficult humanitarian crises, a young boy in Gaza has made it his mission to care for hundreds of abandoned animals every day.

A Mission Born From Compassion

When the war in Gaza began, countless families were forced to flee their homes. In the chaos, many pets became separated from their owners and were left wandering the streets among destroyed buildings and rubble.

One of the people who refused to ignore their suffering is Abdullah Rabee, a young boy from Gaza.

Whenever schools are open, Abdullah attends classes. As soon as his school day ends, however, he begins another jobβ€”one that has become his life’s mission.

Every day, he travels through Gaza feeding hundreds of stray cats and dogs that have been left without homes or families.

Caring for the Forgotten

Many of the animals Abdullah feeds once belonged to families who were displaced or killed during the conflict. Others were born on the streets after the war began.

For nearly three years, Abdullah has continued feeding these animals despite the dangers and hardships surrounding him.

His father accompanies him on his daily feeding rounds, helping carry supplies and ensuring Abdullah stays as safe as possible. Occasionally, they must pause their work when circumstances become too dangerous or when they need to focus on their own survival, but they always resume as soon as they can.

Opening His Own Home

Abdullah’s compassion doesn’t stop with feeding stray animals.

Since beginning his rescue efforts, he and his family have rescued and adopted 12 cats, giving them a permanent home.

Finding food and animal supplies in Gaza is extremely difficult. Even basic necessities are scarce, yet Abdullah continues searching for enough food to feed both his own rescued cats and the many strays that depend on him.

Being a Voice for Animals

Abdullah documents his work on social media, hoping people around the world will notice the suffering of Gaza’s abandoned animals and support his mission.

In one video shared by The Dodo, he said:

“I hope you talk about me and be a voice for the voiceless.”

He later wrote on Instagram:

“I will continue my mission to feed and save the lives of more stray animals, even if they are among the rubble and destruction. I will reach them.”

A Source of Hope

Abdullah’s own future remains uncertain, like that of many children living in Gaza. Yet despite the immense challenges he faces, he continues to devote his time and energy to helping animals that have no one else to care for them.

His story is a reminder that compassion can persist even in the most difficult circumstances. By feeding hungry animals, rescuing abandoned cats, and refusing to give up despite limited resources, Abdullah has become a symbol of kindness toward creatures that cannot speak for themselves.
