“She loved them so much!” ❤️
So, when maintenance workers arrived to fix Sophia’s air conditioning one day, she wasn’t surprised by Goose’s relentless effort to greet them. Sophia quickly tried to give the workers some much-needed space, but their reaction caught her off guard.
“I noticed Goose repeatedly getting in the way of their work because she just wanted to hang out with them,” Sophia recounted. “I offered to put her in my room for a while so they could finish their job, but they told me they loved her and didn’t mind at all!”
Goose got her way and spent the rest of the afternoon following the workers around as they fixed the AC. When Sophia had to leave for class later that day, the maintenance crew was still there, so she asked her roommate, Maysa, to keep an eye on Goose.
“Maysa told me that while the maintenance people were working, she tried to keep Goose away. But Goose kept running back to them because she loved their company so much!” Sophia said. “No matter how hard Maysa tried, she couldn’t keep Goose away.”
Goose couldn’t get enough of her new friends, and the feeling was mutual. Before wrapping up their work, the maintenance crew made a special handmade gift for Goose using a cardboard box.
They dubbed it the “observation port,” which featured a generous entryway on one side and an emergency exit on the top flap. Inside, the workers included a whimsical list of aspirations and a playful, incomplete plan for world domination.
Sophia didn’t notice the box right away, but she was deeply touched when one of her roommates eventually sent her a picture of it.
“I thought it was so cute!” Sophia exclaimed. “I was thrilled that Goose had made such a positive impression, and I thought it was an incredibly sweet gesture!”
Sadly, Sophia and Goose have since moved to a new apartment, and the beloved observation port was left behind. Despite this, the playful cat has embraced her new surroundings by discovering other boxes to play with.
“None are as cool, though,” Sophia said with a smile.
Goose makes the most of every situation, and when the new boxes fall short of excitement, she knows she can always count on her mom for all the attention and love she needs.
“She’s the most amazing cat,” Sophia added.
