“I just wanted him to live with dignity.”
Earlier this year, Renata was walking near her home in Brazil when she came across a cat in heartbreaking condition. He was alone on the street, dangerously thin, visibly sick, and clearly in desperate need of help.
Renata said he looked painfully fragile, nothing but skin and bones, and she believed he had likely been abandoned.
The cat’s body was covered in painful sores caused by a severe skin disease. He had apparently been surviving only because people nearby occasionally gave him food, but Renata could see that he needed far more than scraps to survive.
She said her only wish was to help him live with dignity.
Renata named him Renatinho and slowly began building his trust.
After some time, Renatinho finally let her rescue him. She took him to the vet right away, where she learned his condition was even more serious than she had feared.
The tests showed that his small body was struggling with several health problems at once.
Even so, Renata did not give up on him, and Renatinho kept fighting too. Little by little, his condition began to improve.
With proper treatment, patience, and constant love, Renatinho underwent a remarkable recovery. He transformed into a completely different cat.
Renata says the experience changed her life as well. After dealing with nearly two years of depression, finding Renatinho felt like a return of hope and faith.
Eventually, she decided not just to save him, but to keep him forever.
Today, Renatinho is healthy, playful, and always close to her side. Renata says that in the process of saving him, he somehow ended up healing part of her too.
