It was a close call π³
In South Africa last month, a woman had an unexpected encounter when she entered her kitchen and spotted what she initially thought was a patterned scarf on the floor beneath her countertop. As she bent down to pick it up, she quickly realized it wasn’t a scarf, but a puff adder, a highly venomous snake.
The woman, understanding the need to remove the snake safely, contacted wildlife conservationist CornΓ© Uys. Puff adders are known for their triangular heads, yellow-brown coloration, and are often found in grassy areas throughout South Africa. Uys speculated that the snake had wandered in from a nearby nature reserve, likely seeking a cooler place to escape the heat.
Uys arrived at the scene and carefully captured the snake. He then transported it back to the mountains of the nature reserve, where the snake was safely released back into its natural habitat. After a brief interaction with humans, the puff adder slithered back into the grass and trees, returning to its home in the wild.
