Abandoned Family of Cats Finds New Homes with Help from Rescuers
Huddled together in an empty diaper box beneath a grill, an abandoned mother cat and her four kittens sought comfort in each other’s warmth. The family, in desperate need of help, had nowhere to turn—until a team of local cat rescuers stepped in.
When the rescuers discovered the family in their precarious spot, they knew they had to act. The team carefully approached and began their work.
“The mom was super, super friendly,” said a representative from the rescue team in a video for The Dodo. “She let us pull the kittens out from behind her.”
Upon examination, the kittens were found to have several medical issues, including an upper respiratory infection. The rescuers realized the mother cat was continually reinfecting herself while grooming her babies. To give the kittens the best chance at recovery, they were temporarily separated from their mom.
In foster care, the kittens received baths and began a medication routine to cure their illnesses. Slowly, they started to heal, and their personalities began to shine through.
“Once they were feeling better, their personalities just started to come out,” the representative shared.
Fully recovered, the kittens were taken to Cool Cat Collective, a nonprofit cat-themed art gallery and boutique dedicated to helping community cats.
At Cool Cat Collective, the kittens were reunited with their mother, Daisy, and had the chance to meet potential families.
“They did great in the store,” the representative said. “They were super popular with everyone, not just because they were kittens, but because they just had such distinct personalities.”
Eventually, each kitten found a permanent home, and Daisy, their loving mom, was adopted as well.
“They’re getting showered with all the love and attention that they deserve,” the representative said, sharing the joyful conclusion to their journey.
