Guylene Peebels had just arrived at Walmart, preparing for a shopping trip, when she heard faint cries that she initially mistook for a bird. To her surprise, she discovered a tiny kitten, only 10 days old, near her car.
It seemed the kitten’s mother had given birth nearby and lost track of this particular kitten. Without Peebels’ intervention, the little one’s chances of survival were slim—besides being hungry, his paws were burnt by the sun and hot asphalt.
Reacting swiftly, Peebels gently picked up the kitten and brought him inside Walmart to the service desk. While workers suggested calling animal control, Peebels couldn’t bear to part with the fragile creature who had already nestled into her hand, purring contentedly.
Against all odds, she decided to take him home and immediately began caring for him. Knowing how crucial proper care was for such a young kitten, Peebels diligently fed him kitten formula to help him gain weight. Feeding a kitten is demanding as they require round-the-clock attention, but Peebels remained resolute in ensuring the kitten’s health and well-being.
Guylene Peebels decided to name the kitten Bisquick, a choice that instantly won the hearts of everyone in her family, including her big dog, Penny. Initially concerned about how Bisquick would react to Penny’s size, Peebels discovered it was actually Penny who felt a bit intimidated by the tiny kitten.
“Penny is a little scared of the cat, but she’s incredibly gentle and caring towards him,” Peebels shared.
As Bisquick settled into their home, Peebels’ family members found themselves vying over who would get to keep him once he grew a bit older. However, Peebels herself has grown deeply attached to little Bisquick and is now hesitant about parting with him.
“At this point, I’m not sure if I’m willing to let them have him,” Peebels admitted.
Regardless of who ends up with Bisquick, one thing is certain—he will be surrounded by people who adore him and are committed to giving him a loving home.
