Woman Hailed A Hero After Saving Dog Who Fell From Apartment Window
Earlier this week in Guarulhos, Brazil, Yasmin Saraiva was at home when the sound of urgent voices from the street below caught her attention. Peering out her window, she noticed a small crowd gathered, all looking up—toward something just above her apartment.
That’s when she saw it.
Her upstairs neighbor’s dog, Alicinha, was trapped.
The little pup had squeezed through an open window fitted with protective netting. While the netting was secured at the bottom, the top had looser gaps—and Alicinha, in a panic, had begun to climb.
She was dangerously close to the edge. One wrong move, and she could fall.
Saraiva didn’t hesitate.
“I didn’t think—I just acted,” she told The Dodo.
She scanned the room and grabbed the first sturdy object she could find: a box. With her heart pounding, she positioned herself beneath Alicinha and caught her just in time.
The tiny pup landed safely in Saraiva’s arms, completely unharmed.
Relieved but still shaken, Saraiva expected Alicinha to be just as rattled. Instead?
“She became my friend like nothing had happened,” Saraiva laughed. “I nearly had a heart attack, and she just sat in my living room watching TV.”
While Alicinha may have moved on quickly, the internet certainly didn’t.
“A real-life superhero!” one commenter wrote under the viral video of the rescue.
“The world needs more people like this,” another added.
Thankfully, Alicinha is now safe and sound, back in the arms of her owner—thanks to a quick-thinking stranger who didn’t hesitate to save her life.
