The cat was a little confused πŸ˜‚

About a year ago, Franzlei Yuson welcomed a cat named Kimchi into her home. From the start, Kimchi got along remarkably well with Yuson’s two Shih Tzus, Koa and Kumi, forming an adorable trio.

β€œ[Kimchi] will cuddle up with them sometimes,” Yuson told The Dodo. β€œThey’ll just sit there together on the couch.”

Over the past year, the three pets have grown increasingly close, sharing cozy moments and playful companionship. But recently, something unexpected happened that left Yuson both amused and bewildered.

Out of nowhere, Kimchi began hissing at Koa and Kumi. At first, Yuson couldn’t understand why her normally affectionate cat was acting aggressively. Then she noticed the change: the dogs had just been groomed.

About once or twice a year, Yuson’s husband gives Koa and Kumi a full shave to keep their skin clean and healthy. Because the dogs rarely look so different, Kimchi didn’t recognize her long-haired companions.

β€œThat was the first time she saw them like that, looking completely different,” Yuson explained.

Kimchi’s confusion quickly turned into suspicion. She assumed these were two unfamiliar intruders rather than her beloved siblings. β€œ[S]he did the angry cat position and hissed at them,” Yuson said. β€œAnd she’s never done [that], ever, even when she first came.”

Meanwhile, Koa and Kumi had no idea why Kimchi was upset. They rolled around playfully, unaware that their feline friend was reacting to their shaved appearance.

β€œThe dogs didn’t even have any idea what was going on,” Yuson added.

Feeling unsettled, Kimchi retreated to the guest room, isolating herself for hours.

β€œShe hid upstairs for four hours,” Yuson recalled. β€œWe didn’t force her to come out or anything because I felt so bad. Even though it was funny, I felt kind of bad.”

Eventually, curiosity got the better of her. Kimchi emerged and cautiously approached the dogs, sniffing them several times. Slowly, she realized that these unfamiliar-looking creatures were actually her familiar companions.

β€œ[W]ithin just those ten minutes, she was back to normal, once she realized it was them,” Yuson said.

Now, Kimchi, Koa, and Kumi have returned to their peaceful coexistence β€” though Yuson can’t help but wonder how her curious cat will react the next time the Shih Tzus get shaved.

This heartwarming tale is a charming reminder of how pets perceive the world differently, and how patience and observation can help them adjust to surprising changes.
