Australian Homeowner Helps Rescue Trapped Possum Family
A homeowner in Australia got an unexpected surprise when they spotted two desperate faces peering out from a narrow gap between a fence and a garden shed.

Realizing the animals were in trouble, the concerned homeowner immediately contacted WIRES Wildlife Rescue.
A Tense Rescue Mission
Volunteer rescuer Achini rushed to the scene and quickly identified the trapped animals: a mother brushtail possum and her young baby.
“They were visibly stressed and anxious, unable to escape the tight space,” a WIRES spokesperson said.

To free them, Achini asked the homeowner if a few fence planks could be removed. With a crowbar, they carefully pried back the slats, making enough room for Achini to gently lift the possums to safety.
A Hidden Surprise
A quick examination showed that neither possum had injuries—but there was one more surprise.
Just as Achini was about to release them, she noticed something incredible: a tiny joey snuggled inside the mother’s pouch!
That meant this wasn’t just a two-life rescue, but a three-life rescue.
Back to the Wild
Achini carefully released the possum family into a nearby tree, allowing them to return to their natural habitat.
“Everyone was thrilled that the possums were unharmed and could safely return home,” WIRES shared.
This heartwarming rescue is a reminder of how a little kindness can make a big difference—not just for one life, but for an entire family.
