“We couldn’t get over how tiny she is.” Kara Tiller was strolling through her neighborhood when she stumbled upon something remarkable that brought her to a halt. She spotted a mother and daughter huddled over a rain gutter, peering inside intently. When she inquired about their focus, they revealed they had been hearing a kitten’s desperate meows emanating from deep within the gutter for several days.

Determined to help, they reached out to the fire department, who promptly arrived to rescue the stranded kitten. However, extracting the kitten from the gutter proved to be a formidable challenge. Despite hours of efforts using various tactics, including food and YouTube videos of cat sounds, the kitten remained firmly stuck.

“We tried everything,” Tiller recounted on TikTok. “The cat was completely stuck.”

Ultimately, the firefighters resorted to flushing the kitten out with water from a fire hose. As soon as the kitten emerged safely, she couldn’t contain her relieved meows.

Following Tiller’s TikTok post documenting the rescue, numerous viewers expressed hope that Tiller would adopt the rescued kitten herself.

“You better keep that kitten!” exclaimed one commenter.

The following day, Tiller shared an update on her TikTok account, delighting her followers with the news that she had indeed decided to keep the kitten. After being involved in her entire rescue ordeal, it was impossible for Tiller to part with her.

Tiller named the kitten Juniper, who was so small she fit in the palm of Tiller’s hand.

“We couldn’t get over how tiny she is,” Tiller remarked.

Juniper received immediate veterinary care, where it was determined she was only 4 weeks old. Despite her young age and ordeal in the gutter, Juniper remarkably had no major health issues and was given a clean bill of health.

“[She’s] super healthy and very happy,” Tiller shared.

For Tiller, adopting Juniper marked the beginning of a new chapter in their lives.

“I think we needed each other,” Tiller reflected on TikTok.
