“When you would hold her, it was like holding a balloon.”
When life becomes difficult, having someone who truly understands can make all the difference. That’s exactly what happened for Blueberry, a 1-year-old French bulldog, and Meadow, a 7-month-old black kitten.
Both animals arrived separately at Last Chance Animal Rescue after suffering severe injuries that required emergency amputations.
But what started as two heartbreaking cases soon turned into a remarkable friendship.
Two Survivors Meet During Recovery
Blueberry lost her front left leg, while Meadow had to have her hind left leg amputated.
While recovering at a veterinary hospital, the two animals crossed paths — and immediately bonded.
The rescue team quickly noticed how closely the pair connected.
“Two three-legged survivors learning how to navigate the world again, side by side,” the rescue wrote.

Finding Comfort In Each Other
Losing a limb can be a challenging experience, both physically and emotionally. But Blueberry and Meadow didn’t have to face that journey alone.
Despite being different species, the two formed an incredibly close bond.
Meadow even became known as a comforting presence for other animals recovering from surgery.
“Meadow has become our kitty ambassador, offering comfort to dogs healing from surgery,” the rescue shared. “Blueberry found comfort right back in her.”
An Unlikely But Beautiful Friendship

As the weeks passed, their friendship only grew stronger.
They now spend nearly all their time together — playing, chasing each other and curling up for naps.
“They chase. They cuddle. They adjust,” the rescue wrote. “And they are both doing beautifully.”
Hoping For Loving Homes

Blueberry still needs a few more weeks of physical rehabilitation before she’s medically cleared for adoption. Meadow is expected to be ready for adoption around the same time.
The rescue team hopes they’ll both soon find wonderful families.
Ideally, the organization would love to see them adopted together — but their biggest priority is simply ensuring each animal finds a loving home where they can continue to thrive.
Until then, the two “proud little tripods” will keep supporting one another — proving that some of the strongest friendships are built through shared resilience. 🐶🐱💛
