“I’ve never seen anything like it.”
Nick and Boston, two affectionate pit bulls, reside on a Brazilian ranch with their owner, Melrosi. They share this loving home with two other rescue dogs, forming a close-knit pack.
Recently, these two dogs welcomed an unexpected new friend into their lives.
One day, a hummingbird appeared from the surrounding wilderness, fluttering over to where Nick and Boston were lounging. What transpired next was nothing short of magical.
“I’ve never witnessed anything like it,” Melrosi’s sister, Edilene, recounted. “The dogs befriended the hummingbird.” After a brief interaction, the tiny bird flew away but soon returned.
Since then, the hummingbird has become a regular visitor to Nick and Boston.
“[The hummingbird] doesn’t approach us, but she’s definitely friends with the dogs,” Edilene remarked. “It’s the most beautiful thing.” The origins of this unlikely friendship remain a mystery, but the bird’s trust in Nick and Boston is well-placed.
“They are gentle and kind,” Edilene added. “Sometimes, the hummingbird even perches on their heads while they nap.”
The little bird enjoys the dogs’ company so much that she’s started constructing a new nest closer to their home, making her visits with the pups even easier.
For Edilene, witnessing the bond between Nick, Boston, and the sociable hummingbird feels almost divine — a friendship truly made in heaven.
“It’s incredibly beautiful,” she said. “A testament to God’s perfect work.”
