“All the people were … cheering for him too.”
Emily Fisher and her faithful companion, Brady, have always shared a love for running. But this year, amidst the challenges of a divorce, Fisher made a decision: she and Brady would embark on a new adventure together, training for a marathon.
With every training session, Brady faithfully ran by Fisher’s side. She credits his unwavering presence for helping her through the toughest stretches of her journey.
“Honestly, I wouldn’t have trained without him,” Fisher confessed. Determined to stay accountable, Fisher began capturing snapshots of Brady during their runs. These snapshots soon evolved into videos, chronicling their entire journey on TikTok.
Anyone who watches Fisher’s TikToks can see that Brady relishes these runs. He eagerly participates in every aspect of training, even mimicking Fisher’s pre-run stretches without prompting.
“It was a true partnership. When I stretched, he stretched. When I ran, he ran. It was incredibly cute and inspiring,” Fisher reflected. While some may worry about the intensity of marathon training for a dog, Brady thrived on the challenge.
“He just wants to go, go, go. After every training run, he’d return home, ready to play with his toys,” Fisher shared. The only time Fisher and Brady had to part ways was on marathon day itself, as dogs aren’t permitted to accompany their humans during the race.
During the grueling final mile of the marathon, Fisher was struggling. Her calf ached, and she longed for the finish line. But Fisher and her twin brother, Mike, had a surprise in store. Near the finish line, Mike released Brady’s leash, allowing him to join Fisher for the triumphant final stretch.
It was a moment of pure joy and celebration, a testament to their enduring bond. “Seeing Brady so happy gave me the strength to sprint to the finish line,” Fisher recalled. “And all the people were… cheering for him too.”
After crossing the finish line, Brady was still brimming with energy. Fisher marked the occasion by taking him to the park, where they played fetch for an hour. Though they both needed some well-deserved rest in the days following the marathon, Fisher and Brady’s journey was far from over.
Fisher is already planning her next marathon for October, and once again, Brady will be by her side, accompanying her every step of the way.
