She was crying out for help 💔
A few months ago, during a typical night shift traffic stop, Pembroke Pines Police Department (PPPD) officer Ramon Gil heard a mysterious noise coming from a nearby row of bushes as he spoke to the driver.
“He heard what sounded like a wounded animal,” the PPPD shared on Facebook. Officer Gil completed the traffic stop but felt compelled to investigate the strange noise. Reaching into the bushes, he was stunned by what he discovered.
“After digging through a spider-infested row of bushes, he found a 3-4 week-old abandoned kitten,” the PPPD wrote.
The kitten cried in defense as Officer Gil plucked her out of the dark, secluded brush. He shined his flashlight on her face to ensure she was OK and instantly fell in love. That’s when he decided to take her home.
“Despite his serious allergies and the warnings of his immunologist, Officer Gil decided to take the kitten home and care for her,” PPPD wrote.

Officer Gil named the kitten Miramar, after the location of the traffic stop, and nursed her back to health. Unfortunately, due to his allergies, Gil couldn’t keep Miramar — but someone close to him offered to adopt her.
“Miramar made a full recovery under Officer Gil’s care and is now living happily with [Gil’s] sister, surrounded by plenty of toys and food,” the PPPD wrote.
Miramar’s days of struggling to survive by a bustling road are now a distant memory. These days, she is wrapped in the warmth and affection of her new family, savoring every moment of their love and care.
When Officer Gil started his shift last March, rescuing a small, furry creature was the last thing on his mind. However, his keen awareness and kindness led him to save a vulnerable kitten, and in doing so, he not only gave Miramar a second chance at life but also welcomed a cherished new member into his family.
