This kind of situation isn’t uncommon. A few weeks ago in Fresno, a housekeeper at a Motel 6 was doing their usual rounds when they discovered a heartbreaking scene: a tiny pit bull puppy had been abandoned in one of the rooms.

The motel staff immediately contacted animal control officer Rudy Pina, who rushed to the scene to assess the situation. Upon arrival, Pina found the puppy cautiously peeking out from between the room’s beds, unsure if he could trust yet another stranger. Recognizing the puppy’s need for help, Pina quickly gained his trust.

“When I saw the puppy come up to me, I could immediately tell he was very healthy and very friendly,” Pina shared.

Pina estimated that the puppy had been left alone in the room for one to two days, making his timely rescue crucial.

Pina transported the puppy to the Fresno Animal Center, where the little dog’s lovable and outgoing personality began to shine. Despite his ordeal, he wagged his tail and eagerly interacted with Pina.

“He’s incredibly sweet. Such a good-looking pup,” Pina remarked.

While the idea of abandoning a puppy in a motel room might shock many, Pina sadly noted that such incidents are not uncommon.

“Unfortunately, it happens quite often… Almost weekly, believe it or not,” Pina revealed.

Pina uses his platform, including TikTok, to raise awareness about these issues and share stories from his work as an animal control officer.

Fortunately, for this puppy, being abandoned in a motel room was just the beginning of his journey.

Pina’s TikTok video documenting the puppy’s rescue gained significant attention, leading to an adoption offer. Now, this pup has found a loving home where he will never have to fear being abandoned again.
