The first time Layla and Lola found themselves at their local animal shelter, the inseparable duo provided comfort to each other as they waited anxiously for their family to return. Fortunately, their humans eventually came to collect them, but sadly, their time outside the shelter was short-lived.
Over subsequent months, Layla and Lola returned to the shelter two more times. During their third and final stay, the devastated sisters realized they only had each other to rely on, clinging tightly together as they hoped against hope for a miracle.
Days turned into weeks, and despite their unwavering bond, no one seemed interested in giving them a forever home. That is, until Humans and Animals United (HAAU) stumbled upon their photo.
With time running out, Rosa Fond, founder of HAAU, sprang into action to save Layla and Lola from the shelter. She swiftly mobilized emergency funds and tirelessly searched for a foster home willing to take in both pups.
Meanwhile, Layla and Lola, feeling hopeless and unaware of the efforts being made on their behalf, settled down for what they thought would be their final night at the shelter. Little did they know, their lives were about to undergo a profound transformation come morning.
The next day, HAAU volunteers arrived at the animal shelter to collect Layla and Lola. The pups were visibly relieved and couldn’t contain their excitement as they left their kennel, their gratitude touching everyone present.
“Seeing them leave the shelter that kept them safe until we arrived brings tears to our eyes,” HAAU shared on Facebook. “The girls now have a fresh start, and this time, it’s a forever happily ever after!”
Volunteers transported Layla and Lola from the shelter to a veterinary hospital, where both underwent thorough health exams. Much to everyone’s relief, both pups passed their exams with flying colors, officially qualifying them for foster care.
Fortunately, a compassionate foster family stepped forward, offering to take in both sisters for as long as needed. After an exhaustive search, HAAU rescuers were relieved to secure a loving temporary home where Layla and Lola could stay together.
“They are bonded. We would never separate them,” HAAU affirmed in a comment on Facebook. “They rely on each other, and it’s the only way to ensure these girls are truly cared for.”
Layla and Lola quickly settled into their foster home, where they immediately formed a deep bond with their temporary family. While they continue their search for a permanent home, the two pups are not fretting about the future. Instead, they are happily embracing the abundance of love showered upon them by their current caregivers.
“As promised, these girls have remained together,” HAAU reassured on Facebook. “After being fully vetted, they are adjusting perfectly to life in their foster home.”
