Two-Legged Chihuahua Detects Heart Attack, Saves Owner’s Life
A two-legged rescue Chihuahua named Champ is being hailed as a hero after sensing his owner’s heart attack before any serious symptoms set in — a moment that likely saved his life.
63-year-old Andrew Kuzyk, of Locust Grove, Georgia, was relaxing at home when Champ began acting strangely. The little dog, born without his front legs, climbed onto Kuzyk’s chest, pressed against his heart, and let out a haunting whine.
“He hugged my chest right about where my heart is and made a whine I’ve never heard him utter before,” Kuzyk told SWNS. “Shortly after that, I started having chest pains.”
Recognizing something was wrong, Kuzyk’s wife, Pamela, called 911. He was rushed nearly 30 miles to a hospital in Atlanta, where doctors discovered a severe blockage and performed emergency surgery.
“The doctor showed me this giant thing blocking my heart right after surgery,” Kuzyk recalled. “He said in his career, he’s never seen anything like it.”
His heart stopped twice during surgery, but he pulled through — and credits Champ with saving his life.
