From a modest duo, a family’s rabbit tale has burgeoned into a bustling bunny haven of 50, sparked by their educational rabbit-themed TikTok content.

Emma Clough, swayed by her daughters Rosie, 12, and Jasmine, 19, agreed to adopt a rabbit for each of them a year ago. Little did they foresee the whimsical multiplication of their furry companions.

“We’ve stumbled into a bunny wonderland,” chuckled Miss Clough, as their home near Brentwood, Essex, transformed into “Bun Village,” an impromptu haven for rescued rabbits.

Yet, facing a conundrum of space, they’ve embarked on a quest to find new homes for some rabbits, ensuring ample room for their growing furry family.

In an unexpected twist, the family’s introduction to rescue rabbits occurred when they inherited some from the previous homeowners upon moving into their new abode.

Since the TikTok explosion, their home, now fondly referred to as Bun Village, has become a pilgrimage site for families facing rabbit care challenges. These families arrive, carrying bunnies they can no longer care for.

“From unexpected inheritances to becoming a rabbit sanctuary, it’s been a whirlwind,” Mrs. Clough remarked, bemused by the unforeseen turn of events. “Our doors became a refuge, but it’s surpassed our wildest expectations. As much as we adore them, managing this bustling bunny haven has become quite the challenge.”

Jasmine Clough peeled back the curtain on a common issue, expressing, “There’s a gap in rabbit careβ€”many newcomers arrive sick due to oversight on vaccinations and basic care. It’s a tough sight, but nursing them back to health is incredibly rewarding.”

She shared an amusing tidbit, “In daylight hours, our rabbit guests playfully navigate the house. Some have mastered the art of sneaking in through the cat flap, adding a touch of mischief.”

Surprisingly, the family cat has become a part of the bunny social scene, bunking in with them and forming an unexpected furball squad.

The local community’s kindness shone through, gifting the household with veggies, hay, and pellets to support their burgeoning bunny commune. Yet, amidst the camaraderie, the family remains on the lookout for suitable rabbit homes, ensuring each one finds its perfect match for care and companionship.

Transforming their sheds and out-houses into a haven, the family responded to the surge in unwanted pets prompted by a TikTok video by creating a full-fledged rabbit sanctuary.
