Three-Legged Cat Named Finalist in National Cat Awards
A brave three-legged cat from Kent has earned a spot as a finalist in the prestigious Cats Protection National Cat Awards 2024. William, a two-year-old rescue cat, triumphed over hundreds of other competitors to secure a place in the “Family Cats” category, showcasing his incredible bond with his owner.
A Special Bond with His Owner
William’s owner, 11-year-old Amber Jackson, has sensory processing disorder and finds comfort in her beloved pet. Amber describes petting William as a form of “emotional therapy” that helps her cope with daily challenges.
Amber’s mother, Sarah Jackson, also highlights the deep connection between her daughter and their furry companion. “Amber and William are a team – they have similar personalities,” she explained. “Both are extremely clever and sporty, and neither of them likes being told what to do!”
Finding Comfort in Each Other
The bond between William and Amber extends even further, as both share a fear of loud noises. “They comfort each other when they’re unsettled,” Sarah said, noting how their companionship provides a sense of security and calm.
William’s Remarkable Journey: A Lesson in Resilience

William’s journey has been nothing short of inspiring. After suffering an injury that led to the amputation of his right back leg, the determined feline quickly bounced back. “For six weeks during his recovery, he would stare longingly out of the window,” Sarah shared. “But as soon as I let him out, he was over the fence and away.”
Despite his physical challenges, William remains a fearless explorer. “He walks with a wobble but runs like a panther,” Sarah proudly noted. “He’s so brave and truly completes our little family.”

Awaiting the Final Result
William, who lives in Deal, faces one other contender for the title, and the winner of the Family Cats category will be announced on Wednesday. No matter the outcome, William’s courage and his special bond with Amber have already made him a winner in the hearts of those who know him.
