Three baby capybaras are winning over visitors at a wildlife park in Kent, England, after being given the charming names Colin, Clive and Cuthbert.
The cuddly trio, born in October, live at Wingham Wildlife Park near Canterbury and have quickly become some of the parkβs most popular residents.
The Public Helped Choose Their Names
The baby capybaras were named after the park invited members of the public to submit suggestions and then vote on a shortlist.

Keepers announced the winning names in a video shared on Instagram, joking:
βForget heist movies, these cute βbaby potatoesβ are stealing our hearts.β
Inspired by Chocolate Caterpillar Cakes
According to Meg Lawler, head of mammals at the park, the names were inspired by the famous chocolate caterpillar cakes, making the trioβs identities even more sweet.
The three brothers are already known as a βfurry band,β delighting visitors with their gentle and playful behavior.
The Worldβs Most Relaxed Rodents
Capybaras are the largest rodents in the world and became global internet stars in 2023 after a viral TikTok trend brought them massive attention.
They are well known for their calm personalities and relaxed lifestyle.
Keepers often describe capybaras as:
- βChilledβ
- Animals that βvibe through lifeβ
- Creatures who start their days in the afternoon and donβt stress about anything
Visitors Canβt Get Enough

Lawler said the animals were already popular before the babies were born β but the trio has taken that to a whole new level.
βEverybody wanted to see the capybaras,β she said.
βNow weβve got the babies, theyβre getting lots and lots of attention.β
She added that involving the public made the experience even more special.
βWe asked people to suggest names, picked our favourites, then ran a poll. These were the winners.β
More Baby Capybaras in the Future?
With Colin, Clive and Cuthbert drawing huge crowds, keepers are hopeful the park will welcome more capybara babies in the future.
For now, the three brothers continue doing what they do best β relaxing, cuddling, and stealing hearts across Kent.
