As a professional pianist, Mariana Koval is accustomed to performing for large crowds in majestic concert halls. But it turns out, her most loyal audience isn’t found in the audience—it’s waiting at home, eagerly anticipating every note she plays.
With 10 cats in the house and hours of piano practice each day, Koval’s musical workspace is never quiet for long. While a few fluffy visitors may stop by from time to time, Zlatko, in particular, insists on being by her side for the entire session.
“It’s another day in the office,” Koval shared on Instagram, alongside a video of Zlatko, sitting at the piano with his paws gracefully resting on the keys.
The moment Koval or her pianist husband, Dimcho Velichkov, sit at the bench, Zlatko is there in a flash, often jumping onto their laps or laying across the keys, purring contentedly as the music plays. Sometimes, he simply enjoys the vibrations, lounging on the piano as his parents play, taking in the sound.
“This is Zlatko’s entertainment,” Koval wrote.
While most animals might shy away from the loud sounds of the piano, Zlatko and a few of his siblings, including Anya, Bambi, and Sasha, find the music a source of joy.
Thanks to being exposed to an array of classical pieces, it seems Zlatko has developed a refined taste in music. In fact, he has a soft spot for one composer in particular.
“Zlatko loves Chopin,” Koval shared on Instagram, showcasing his love for classical music.
Each day, Zlatko is right there, a dedicated companion to his parents as they play. It’s hard to tell what he enjoys most—the music itself, or the time spent with his family—but Koval has a satisfying hunch.
“He loves both ☺️,” she said in an Instagram comment.
