“We did everything we could to find her.”
In November 2017, Daisy was happily playing in her family’s yard when a car full of strangers suddenly pulled up, snatched her, and drove away. Her devastated family did everything in their power to find her. The story even made the news, but despite their efforts, Daisy was nowhere to be found.
As the years passed, hope of bringing Daisy home began to fade. Still, her family never gave up.

“Not knowing if she was safe or loved was awful for us,” said Rita Potter, Daisy’s mom, in an RSPCA press release. “We did everything we could to find her, including major appeals on social media that spread across the world. We kept a photograph on the mantlepiece and looked at it every day, wondering where she might be.”
Now a senior dog, Daisy’s family feared she might have already passed away. Then, after eight long years, they received an unbelievable call—Daisy had been found.

RSPCA Inspector Kim Walters had discovered Daisy during a routine investigation. Her current owner claimed he had only had Daisy for a couple of years and, unable to afford her medical care, willingly surrendered her to the RSPCA. When rescuers scanned her microchip, they uncovered her true identity and immediately contacted her family.

“I called them, and they were shocked—but overjoyed,” Walters shared. “They told me about the enormous efforts they had made to find her and how heartbroken they were when she was taken. Hearing how much they loved her was incredibly moving, and it was a joy to tell them we could finally bring her home.”
It appeared that Daisy had been used for backyard breeding. She was in poor condition—filthy, neglected, and likely ungroomed for years. But after a thorough cleaning and a health check, she was cleared for travel. Finally, her rescuers embarked on the four-hour journey to reunite her with her family.
The moment Daisy stepped out of the car, her tail wagged uncontrollably, and her nose twitched as she sniffed the familiar air. She remembered. She knew she was home. Her family surrounded her, showering her with all the love she had missed, and she melted into her mom’s embrace.
Now 13 years old, Daisy is finally back where she belongs. No matter how much time she has left, her family finds comfort in knowing she’ll spend the rest of her life safe, cherished, and deeply loved.
