“She was tired and hungry, but seeing her rescuers made her very happy.”

During a routine cargo check in Texas, members of the U.S. Coast Guard heard scratching and barking from a shipping container. They discovered someone trapped inside.

With precision, the inspection crew extracted the shipping container from its towering perch. And as they unlocked the door, an unexpected surprise awaited:

“A dog leaped out as soon as they opened it!” recounted the U.S. Coast Guard Heartland.

The details of how the dog ended up trapped inside the container remain a puzzle, but officials confirm she endured at least a week of confinement. Surely, it was a harrowing experience for the courageous pup.

The Coast Guard reported, “She was tired, hungry, and very happy to see her rescuers.” They gave her the name Connie the Container Dog.

After nourishing the dog with food and water, her rescuers transported her to a nearby animal shelter. Despite her ordeal, Connie’s spirits remained resilient and bright.

The U.S. Coast Guard Sector Houston-Galveston expressed their pride in their team of marine inspectors, stating, “We are so proud of our team who were in the right place at the right time, trusted their instincts, and saved a dog’s life!”

Connie has found sanctuary with Forever Changed Animal Rescue, where her journey towards healing has begun. Although she’s heartworm positive, treatment plans are underway, setting the stage for her future adoption into a home overflowing with love.

“We’re committed to giving Connie the comprehensive care she deserves,” affirmed Forever Changed Animal Rescue. “Our heartfelt thanks go out to all the remarkable individuals involved in this rescue mission, for they’ve truly changed Connie’s life.”
