“I go down into the embankment and there he is.”
TikTok user Nia Briana was out for a walk near her home in Hawaii, pushing her daughter in a stroller and listening to a podcast, when she noticed her daughter becoming fussy. After removing her EarPods to check on her, she heard unexpected cries coming from the nearby brush.
Curious, Nia parked the stroller and followed the sound, only to be stunned by what she discovered.
“I head down into the embankment, and there he is,” Nia shared in a TikTok video.
There, next to an overturned box, was a tiny orange kitten, seemingly abandoned without food, water, or care, crying desperately for help.
Coincidentally, Nia had already rescued an orange cat in a similar manner five years prior, so she knew just what to do. After ensuring there were no other kittens in the area, she gently picked up the little one, placed him in the stroller, and headed home.
Once home, Nia examined the kitten and found that his eyes were crusted over with scabs. She immediately scheduled a vet appointment and showered the kitten with affection, giving him his first taste of love and safety.
The vet treated the kitten for worms and fleas, as well as his eyes. Although the kitten is at least partially blind, his new family is waiting to see how much vision he might recover over time. Despite his blindness, the kitten is full of energy and mischief, showing no signs of letting his condition slow him down.
From the moment Nia rescued him, she had a feeling he was destined to become part of their family. Now, they’ve fallen head over heels for the little fighter, grateful for the joy he’s brought into their lives.
“He’s such a snuggler and so sweet,” Nia said.
As the kitten continues his journey of healing, Nia and her family are taking it day by day. Whether he regains his vision or not, they already love him just the way he is.
