During a patrol in Northeast Houston, a small puppy clutching a soggy newspaper captured the attention of a Corridor Rescue volunteer.
The little tan dog strutted proudly down the street with his wet “toy,” despite his rough condition from life on the streets. The volunteer quickly filmed a video and scooped up the puppy, leaving the newspaper behind.
βThe newspaper was damp and had a strong odor,β said Page Moore, president of Corridor Rescue. βWe provided him with plenty of new toys to enjoy instead.β
A veterinary check-up revealed that the puppy, named Bingo, weighed only 11 pounds and had a belly full of parasites. βHe was suffering from sarcoptic mange and a secondary bacterial infection from scratching,β Moore explained. βHe was also dehydrated and tested positive for Parvo. Thankfully, it was a mild case and he recovered swiftly with treatment.β
When Bingo first arrived at the rescue, he was timid and frightened. But as his health improved, his playful personality emerged.
βHe transformed into a lively little guy!β Moore said. βFull of spirit and always eager for attention, Bingo became a vibrant and joyful puppy. He loved engaging with staff and volunteers and enjoyed all his new toys.β
In just the first month at the rescue, Bingo gained 8 pounds and grew healthier. Ready for adoption, he soon found a family, and within three months of arriving at the rescue, he had a new home.
βHis new mom saw his adoption listing and immediately applied,β Moore said. βShe fell in love with him, and on August 2, Chance left Texas to join his new family in Saint Paul, Minnesota, with three kids and his mom!β
Chanceβs new family renamed him from Bingo to Chance. Grateful for his second chance, heβs now thriving as a family pet. βWeβre a hockey family,β Chanceβs new mom shared in an update to the rescue. βWe had to introduce him to the game, and he loves chasing pucks around!β
