From Stray Kittens to Soulmates: Romeo and Juliet’s Rescue Love Story

A few months ago, Yassine Harouchi was working at a coffee shop in Casablanca, Morocco, when an unexpected little visitor wandered in β€” a tiny stray kitten with the biggest personality.

Despite his rough start in life, the kitten was all charm.

β€œHe was jumping on everybody’s lap,” Harouchi recalled in a video for The Dodo. β€œHe wouldn’t let anybody work.”

As closing time approached, the café’s owner wanted to put the kitten back outside. But it was cold and raining, and Harouchi couldn’t bear the thought of leaving him to fend for himself.

β€œI was like, β€˜OK, you know what? Don’t bother. He’s staying with me,’” Harouchi said.

A Second Chance at Life

Fortunately, Harouchi runs a cat rescue initiative called The Yass House, so he knew exactly what to do. The kitten was rushed to the vet, where he was treated for an upper respiratory infection and quarantined for nine days.

Once he recovered, his playful, affectionate personality came bursting through. But something was missing β€” he seemed to crave a feline friend.

Just a week later, fate stepped in again. Harouchi found another stray kitten outside in the cold rain. He took her in, got her the medical care she needed, and introduced her to the coffee shop kitten.

Love at First Sight

The connection was instant.

Within days, the two kittens were inseparable β€” chasing each other, grooming each other, and curling up together for naps.

β€œThey fell in love right away,” Harouchi said.

Fittingly, he named them Romeo and Juliet.

Over the past few months, the pair has only grown closer, turning their once-lonely lives on the streets into a heartwarming love story.

Waiting for Their Forever Home

Now, Romeo and Juliet are ready for their next chapter: adoption. Because of their incredible bond, they must be adopted together.

All they need is a family who will cherish their playful energy, cuddly personalities, and unbreakable friendship.

β€œIf there’s a family who loves to play with cats, Romeo and Juliet are for them,” Harouchi said.

After being rescued from the rain and finding each other, the only thing missing from this fairytale is a forever home where their love story can continue.
