He never stopped wagging his tail π
Last week in Detroit, Michigan, animal rescuer Jordan Covington was outside a home talking with a family about getting their dog spayed when a second dog suddenly appeared beside them, as if he had materialized out of thin air. Covington had no idea where he came from or whether he belonged to anyone nearby.
It didnβt take long for her to realize something was very wrong. Covington, who runs the rescue group The KG Foundation, learned from the family that the dog had been abandoned by his owners and struck by a car just days earlier.

Despite his obvious injuries, the pup wasnβt fearful. As soon as Covington sat down, he pressed himself against her, looked straight into her eyes and wagged his tail the entire time β as if heβd been waiting for her.
βHeβs been through absolute hell, and yet he was ready to jump right into a strangerβs car,β Covington told The Dodo.
Covington and her team carefully lifted him into their vehicle and rushed him to the veterinarian. After being sedated so the exam wouldnβt cause further pain, the vet discovered he was suffering not only from the recent accident but from several older injuries as well.
βYou could just see how much he was hurting,β Covington said.
Over the past week, the dog β now lovingly named Muffin Man β has been getting the medical care he desperately needs. Heβs receiving antibiotics, pain relief, heartworm treatment and cold-laser therapy to help heal his damaged leg.
As his rescuers and the vet staff spend more time with him, theyβve grown completely smitten with his gentle, affectionate personality.

βHe cannot get close enough,β Covington said. βHe leans into you, melts on you, and will practically tumble into your lap just to be closer.β
Once heβs strong enough, Muffin Man will head to a foster home and soon after be ready for adoption. With such a patient and loving nature, Covington knows heβll make an incredible addition to someoneβs family.
βThis dog has lived through the worst and has every reason to be bitter β but heβs the total opposite,β she said.
After surviving abandonment, pain and trauma, Covingtonβs only wish now is simple: that Muffin Man finally gets the safety, comfort and love heβs always deserved.
