“She was like, ‘Ah, I don’t care.’”
An Unexpected Visitor at the Park
Cyprus resident Niklas Wilhelm was in the middle of his usual outdoor workout when something small and orange suddenly appeared beside him.
Stray cats are common across the island, so at first, Wilhelm didn’t think much of it. But this cat wasn’t like the others. Instead of keeping her distance, she walked straight up to him, sat down, and demanded his attention.
Before he could finish a single set, she was rubbing against him, nuzzling his arms, and making it impossible to ignore her.
“She certainly interrupted my training,” Wilhelm said, “but it was absolutely OK.”
A Cat Who Clearly Knew What She Wanted
The orange cat — soon nicknamed Mousi — wasted no time making herself comfortable.
At one point, she curled up on Wilhelm’s shirt as if it were her own personal bed.
“She was like, ‘I don’t care,’” Wilhelm joked.
Her confidence was unmistakable. This was not a shy street cat — this was a cat on a mission.
She Came Back for More
Two days later, Wilhelm returned to the same park.
And there she was.
Mousi ran straight toward him and once again refused to leave his side for the entire workout.
That’s when it hit him.
“I was like, ‘OK, this is not normal,’” Wilhelm said.
It felt less like coincidence and more like fate.
Searching for Her Family
Although Wilhelm had never owned a cat before, he couldn’t stop thinking about Mousi. He asked people in the neighborhood if they knew who she belonged to — but no one claimed her.
He took her to the vet, where they confirmed she had no microchip.
With no family to return her to, the choice suddenly felt clear.
Mousi had already chosen him.
From Street Cat to House Queen
When Mousi arrived at Wilhelm’s home, she was shy at first. But that didn’t last long.
Within 20 minutes, she was exploring, relaxing, and acting as if she’d lived there forever.
“The very first evening, she was sitting beside me while I was working,” Wilhelm said.
“That’s when I knew it was the right decision.”
Life According to Mousi
Now, two months later, Mousi runs the household.
Wilhelm follows her schedule.
He plays when she demands it.
And he never disturbs her naps.
“I don’t make the rules,” Wilhelm wrote on Instagram.
“I just follow them.”
A Love That Started With a Workout
Wilhelm can’t imagine life without Mousi now.
What began as a simple workout turned into a life-changing moment — all because one determined little cat decided he was hers.
“I instantly fell in love,” Wilhelm said.
