The grocery list goes in his backpack
It’s a peaceful Sunday morning in Antioquia, Colombia, and Doña Graciela is preparing her weekly grocery list. Though she only needs a few essentials from the market, walking there herself isn’t an option. Thankfully, her faithful canine companion is more than ready to lend a paw.
She carefully fastens a saddlebag harness onto her black pit bull mix and tucks the grocery list and money into its pocket. “I wrote down what he needs to bring me and put the money inside,” Doña Graciela shared in a video posted by Instagram user @cejasriveraa. “Now, he’s off to the store and will bring back everything I need.”
With his precious cargo secured, the enthusiastic pup trots out the door, tail wagging as he confidently makes his way down the village street. He knows exactly where to go, but even if he hesitates, the friendly shopkeepers are always there to guide him. Once he arrives at the market, he sits politely by the counter, waiting for the workers to notice him.
“There he is at the store,” @cejasriveraa narrated. “Now, they’re helping him. What a beautiful sight.” The shopkeepers retrieve the list from his harness and set off to gather the requested items. The patient pup stays perfectly still, watching calmly as they work.
“Look at how he waits so patiently for them to finish,” @cejasriveraa commented. Moments later, the shopkeepers return with a bag of groceries, carefully tying it to his backpack. They also take the payment and return the change, ensuring everything is in order before sending him on his way.
Eager to complete his mission, the pup happily makes his way back home, wagging his tail with pride. As he enters Doña Graciela’s living room, he’s greeted with love and appreciation. He patiently waits for her to untie the bag before enjoying a well-deserved treat for his effort.
“There he goes with his items,” @cejasriveraa observed. And just like that, the dedicated dog has once again proven his loyalty and reliability.
Life as an older adult can be challenging, but with her trustworthy pup by her side, Doña Graciela knows she’ll always have someone dependable to help her.
“He even brought back the change!” she exclaimed with a smile.
