“We were all taken aback… This is Pipoy β a strikingly handsome cat who, for reasons unknown, has always been quite the silent type. At home with his owner, Ladeen Lacambra, Pipoy barely makes a sound.
‘He’s one year old,’ Lacambra shared. ‘Ever since we’ve had him, he hasn’t uttered a single noise.'”
Despite being a quiet cat, Pipoy is far from shy. He loves giving and receiving affection, and delights his family with his amusing antics.
“Pipoy is such a sweet boy,” Lacambra said. “He’s funny. Pipoy loves belly rubs.”
The silent cat, however, recently broke his silence.
The other day, Lacambraβs brotherβs girlfriend visited with her own cat, hoping that she and Pipoy might become friends.
This was the first time Pipoy had met another cat β and the first time his family had ever heard him use his voice. Rather than a typical meow, Pipoy made sounds that strikingly resembled “hi.”
“We were all shocked that Pipoy kept saying βhiβ instead of βmeow,β” Lacambra said. “That’s why we were laughing really hard.”
It was a gentle greeting, reflecting Pipoyβs sweet personality. Unfortunately, despite Pipoyβs uncanny attempts at an introduction, the other cat wasnβt as receptive: “Sheβs kind of aloof,” Lacambra said.
Still, the encounter sparked something in Pipoy β the urge to speak.
“Thatβs the first time and, sadly, the last time weβve heard his voice,” Lacambra said.
