“The advice is probably not something any of these cats has experienced personally. But they’re shelter pets, so you never know their full past!”
It was another typical shelter day, and the staff at Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region were brainstorming about a classic shelter problem: how to draw attention to animals that need adopting. The team decided they needed to get creative and came up with the best idea.
The Plan: Sassy Dating Tips from Cats
They decided to post photos of their adoptable cats giving cheeky, sassy dating tips, and quickly got to work crafting the perfect advice.
“The advice came from our digital communications manager, who runs our social media accounts and whom we affectionately refer to as three orange cats in a trench coat,” a representative from Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region said.

Matching Wisdom to Whiskers
Once the advice was ready, they matched each pearl of wisdom to a cat as best they could.
“The advice is probably not something any of these cats has experienced personally,” the representative said. “But they’re shelter pets, so you never know their full past!”
The Tips That Broke the Internet
The dating tips ranged from topics like flirting to cleanliness to therapy to sword collections. As soon as it was posted, everyone fell in love — both with the advice and the adoptable cats giving it.
Mission Accomplished

The post was meant to entertain and to draw attention to the very deserving cats who needed homes, and both objectives were completed.
“All but three of the cats have been adopted,” the representative said. “While we won’t know for sure if it was because of this post, our goal with this post, and others we’ve done that are similar, is to bring awareness to cat adoption. We know this post was seen by people all over the world, so if it inspired someone to adopt from us or their local shelter, that’s a win for pet adoption!”
