βPaisley does this every single day β¦β π
At 10 a.m. at PAWS Shelter of Central Texas, a staff member sat down to start paperwork on the computer when a strange feeling washed over them β as if someone was staring.
They peeked around their monitor and found a pair of huge eyes fixed directly on them.
It was Paisley.
The wide-eyed watcher would have startled most people, but the staffer recognized him immediately. Paisley, one of the shelterβs most determined cats, had made it his daily mission to sit by the door and quietly hope someone would finally take him home.
βPaisley does this every single day,β PAWS shared on Instagram. βHe waits by the door, hoping his future family will notice him.β
That day was no different. Paisley planted himself in front of the glass door to the cat room, staring through it for hours with quiet hope. It broke everyoneβs heart, but the staff was certain his perfect humans were out there somewhere.
To show the world how badly he wanted to be loved, the shelter filmed every moment they caught Paisley patiently waiting at the door β and posted the compilation online.
The video quickly blew up. Messages poured in, but one stood out. A woman named Batsy fell in love with Paisley instantly, and after showing the video to her husband, she submitted an adoption application right away.

The couple lived several hours from the shelter, but distance didnβt matter. After losing their beloved black cat years earlier, they felt an instant connection to Paisley.
βThere was no doubt he was the one,β Batsyβs husband, Mike Morales, told The Dodo.
The very next day, Batsy, Mike and their 6-year-old son drove four hours to meet him. And Paisley, who had waited so long for a family, knew immediately.
βAs soon as we walked through the door, he went straight to my wife and son,β Morales said. βLater, she sat on the floor with him and he started chasing the shadows from her hands.β
The family was overjoyed. Paisley β now renamed Shadow β seemed just as thrilled.

βHeβs really made himself at home,β Morales said. βHe loves head bumps, heβs picked out his own spot on the couch and he talks to us all the time. Itβs like heβs lived here forever.β
Itβs been about a week since Shadow left the shelter, and his life has completely changed. No more long hours sitting by a glass door waiting for love. Now, he naps on soft furniture, plays with his new boy, and soaks up affection from the family he always dreamed of.
Thanks to the team at PAWS who believed in him, Shadow is finally living the life he deserves β and according to his new mom, itβs only going to get better.
βHeβs definitely going to be spoiled!β Batsy wrote. βHeβs so sweet!β
