Tucker and Buddy are two 1-year-old brothers who found themselves at the SPCA of Wake County after their family had to move away and couldn’t bring them along. Now, they’re together at the shelter, patiently waiting for a forever family to take them in.
These bonded brothers are a package deal, and they come with some big personalities—especially Tucker’s.

As soon as Tucker arrived at the shelter, it didn’t take long for the staff to notice something unique about him: he has an absolute obsession with sitting on people’s shoulders.
“It might sound like we’re exaggerating, but Tucker would live on your shoulder if he had the chance,” said Samantha Ranlet, communications manager at SPCA of Wake County. “Visitors have told us that he jumps onto their shoulders the moment they walk into the room, before they even realize what’s happening. His previous owner summed it up perfectly: ‘He’ll come at you from anywhere—whether it’s the floor or a shelf. You always need to be ready for Tucker to jump on your shoulder.’”

For reasons unknown, Tucker just loves being up high and close to people. His shoulder obsession is a mix of being social and getting a good view of everything. It doesn’t matter whose shoulder it is—if it’s available, Tucker is on it.
“He’s like a sneaky shoulder assassin,” Ranlet joked.

Buddy, Tucker’s brother, isn’t as obsessed with shoulders, but he’s got just as much energy. Together, these two are a whirlwind of fun and excitement, and whoever adopts them will need to keep up.
“The perfect home for them is one that can handle a little chaos,” Ranlet explained. “They’re definitely not ‘zen’ cats, but they’re natural entertainers. If you’re looking for a double-dose of energy and joy, Tucker and Buddy will keep you laughing, entertained, and happy every single day.”

Tucker and Buddy enjoy playing with toys, watching “cat TV,” and exploring every hiding spot they can find. They’re also great with other animals and thrive in a lively environment. However, they do require a family who can match their high energy—and most importantly, a family who’s okay with a shoulder buddy. That’s non-negotiable!
