“I was angry and frustrated.”
Vera Andric-Osmic, the founder of DNV Save Animals, a rescue group in Bosnia, is always on the lookout for pets in need. But one day, while returning from a vet appointment with a car full of rescue dogs, she spotted something that made her stop in her tracks.
“We stopped at a forest road to let the dogs out for a toilet break, and as I got out of the car, I saw a small black shape moving in the distance,” Andric-Osmic recalled.
Curious, she cautiously approached the tiny figure. As she got closer, her heart sank.
“They were tiny puppies, abandoned in the forest with no food, water, or shelter,” she said.
The sight left her feeling devastated.

“I was angry and frustrated,” Andric-Osmic admitted. “But these particular puppies were lucky that we found them.”
Without a moment’s hesitation, Andric-Osmic scooped up the little ones and carefully placed them in the car. Exhausted from their ordeal, the puppies immediately settled in.

“They knew they were safe right away,” she said. “They fell asleep under a blanket, and all you could see were four little heads peeking out.”
Once they were in their new home, the puppies eagerly devoured their food. Andric-Osmic wasted no time arranging for their vet check-ups and vaccinations.

The puppies, now named Oliver, Beau, Toto, and Vivienne, will stay with Andric-Osmic until they’re 3 months old. After that, they’ll make their way to the United Kingdom, where they’ll begin their search for loving forever homes.
Andric-Osmic hopes that families in the UK will embrace these sweet pups, just as she has grown to love them. With any luck, it won’t be long before they find their perfect place to call home.
