In a heartwarming turn of events, Sewerby Hall and Gardens in Bridlington has welcomed two charming alpacas and a quartet of delightful goats into its fold.
These furry additions hail from Harewood House in Leeds, following the closure of their beloved “farm experience.” John Pickering, the esteemed head zookeeper at Sewerby Hall and Gardens, orchestrated their transition in collaboration with the compassionate staff at Harewood House.
“When we received word that the farm experience at Harewood was concluding, we gladly extended our hand to provide a haven for some of their cherished animals,” shared Pickering, his eyes reflecting the warmth of his heart.
The alpacas, it seems, are already feeling quite at home in their cozy stable, their gentle demeanor endearing them to their new llama neighbors. In the wild, llamas and alpacas often roam the South American landscape together, and here they are, continuing their companionship amidst the serene surroundings of Sewerby Hall.
Meanwhile, the four goatsβArchie, Dill, Minty, and Rosemaryβcomprise a tight-knit family, and as such, they’ve been granted their own exclusive paddock. The zookeepers are committed to preserving their familial bonds, ensuring a seamless transition as they acquaint themselves with their new environment.
“These goats have gracefully entered their golden years, and it’s our privilege to offer them a tranquil retirement haven here at Sewerby Hall,” Pickering remarked, his voice resonating with compassion. With an average lifespan of a decade, the zookeepers are dedicated to providing these esteemed elders with the comfort and care they deserve, ensuring their twilight years are filled with contentment and joy amidst the lush gardens of their newfound home.
