This past May, a truck driver in Ohio was conducting his routine inspection when he discovered a tiny ball of fluff wedged between his semi-truck’s wheels.
There, nestled between the rubber, was a small gray and white kitten, all alone.
Concerned and startled by the discovery, the truck driver immediately reached out to the Ohio State Highway Patrol for assistance.
Officers responded swiftly, grateful that the truck driver had taken the necessary steps to save the kitten’s life.”
“I thought it was great that the truck driver was so thorough with his pre-trip inspection and found the kitten,” a representative from Ohio State Highway Patrol said. “He saved the kitten’s life.”
The rescue team proceeded cautiously, carefully unscrewing one of the wheels. Finally free, the kitten blinked up at her heroes, wide-eyed and taking in her surroundings.
“The kitten appeared very calm and likely worn out from the stress of the situation,” the representative said. Officers arranged for the kitten to stay temporarily with the Portage Animal Protection League, where she could finally relax under the care of animal experts.
In June, a local family met the kitten and instantly fell in love. These days, the cat who once clung to a truck for dear life spends her afternoons luxuriating with her new family, napping and playing peacefully without a care in the world.
