Abandoned Dogβs Miraculous Rescue After Escaping into the Ocean
The other day, Suzette Hall, founder of Loganβs Legacy 29 dog rescue, received an urgent call from sanitation workers at a recycling center in San Pedro, California. While sorting through discarded items, the workers stumbled upon an unexpected “piece of trash”βa scared, abandoned dog who wouldnβt stop moving.
“This baby was dumped at a recycling plant on the docks,” Hall wrote on Facebook.
The workers were heartbroken as they chased the dog, but their efforts only frightened him further. The frightened pup ran to the edge of the dock, and with no way out, jumped into the Pacific Ocean.
“He swam for his life and ended up taking refuge under a bridge,” Hall said. “Sometimes, the tide would come up so high that it would cover up to his chest.”
The workers, unable to reach him, set up a feeding station, hoping to lure him in. Despite their efforts, it took a month before they reached out to Hall for help.
When Hall arrived, she found the dog hiding under the dock. She tried every trick she knew to rescue him, but the dog was too scared to come out. “I tried everything to trap him,” Hall shared. “He was just so scared.”
As the sun set that evening, Hall had to leave, but she remained determined. Regular updates from the workers kept her going as they watched the dog sneak up to eat his food.
Over the next two nights, Hall returned, but the dog evaded her efforts once again. Exhausted and discouraged, she prayed for a miracle.
The following day, Hall returned to the recycling center and heard the sound she had been longing forβthe door of the trap slamming shut. The dog, later named Buddy, had walked in. Hall could hardly contain her joy.
The sanitation workers carefully carried Buddy to Hallβs van, and she rushed him to the vet. Thankfully, Buddy was healthy overall and was soon placed in a foster home.
Buddy has been thriving in his new foster home, eagerly awaiting his forever family. For now, he enjoys daily snuggles, plush toys, and a loving homeβfar from the ocean where he once struggled.
“This morning was the miracle,” Hall said.
