In a poignant testament shared on Facebook, Director Kelly Wolmer conveyed heartfelt sorrow, closing the doors to new inhabitants. The cherished animals under their care will either find refuge in foster homes or continue to receive devoted attention from staff members.
“Our journey’s end comes with a heavy heart, despite every effort made,” lamented Director Kelly Wolmer.
Embarking in 2006 as a haven primarily for domestic parrots, Runham Wildlife Rescue embarked on a transformative journey. Over a decade, its ethos evolved, embracing the diverse care of wildlife and offering refuge to forsaken or overlooked pets.
Answering an escalating demand for wildlife aid, the charity grappled with an average of 30 daily appeals for assistance. Adapting dynamically, the sanctuary concurrently tended to a fluctuating population of three to 13 animals, adapting seamlessly to the seasonal influx. To meet this surge, Runham Wildlife Rescue overhauled its infrastructure, crafting a specialized medical haven and expanding its aviaries.
In the quest for new grounds, Director Ms. Wolmer and a band of devoted volunteers took on the immense responsibility, providing care across diverse locations, including their personal havens. This unconventional approach epitomizes their unwavering devotion to the beings they selflessly serve.
