“He didn’t know what to do …”
Terrified Dog Rescued From Highway Now Thriving in Foster Home
Earlier this month, Stray Rescue of St. Louis began receiving urgent calls about a terrified animal spotted along the side of a busy local highway. Concerned citizens described a black dog frozen in fear, dangerously close to passing traffic.

The rescue team quickly dispatched two experienced staffers, Donna and Kristen, to the scene. As they drove along the highway, scanning the roadside, they finally spotted him — a frightened black dog, trembling in the grass as trucks thundered by.
“He was shaking like a leaf as big trucks passed by at high speeds,” a Stray Rescue spokesperson told The Dodo.

Donna and Kristen wasted no time. They gently approached the scared pup, speaking softly to earn his trust. Miraculously, the dog stayed put — unsure of what to do, but choosing to trust the kind strangers.
Back at the shelter, the team named him Jet. But despite their best efforts, it was clear the bustling environment was too much for him. To help him heal, they placed him in a loving foster home where he could decompress and regain confidence.
Now, Jet is thriving.
“Jet is doing great!” the rescue shared. “He has great house manners, loves to play, and loves to cuddle even more.”
Jet’s foster family has helped him blossom, and he’s finally ready to find a forever home. Friendly with both people and other dogs, Jet would do well in an apartment or a house with a yard — anywhere he can feel safe and loved.
With his gentle heart and growing confidence, Jet is sure to find his perfect match soon.
