The waves were crashing over him π₯Ί
While most people in Atimonan, Quezon, were celebrating the New Year at midnight, the real excitement came hours later when locals spotted a helpless white dog stranded on a slippery boulder in the ocean.
Frightened by the loud fireworks, the dog had bolted from the street and accidentally jumped into the water, where it became stuck. Fernando Ricardo Arcino, a local resident who filmed the rescue, recalled the distressing moment: “The dog was scared of the sound of fireworks, so he ran away and jumped off the street into the water and got stuck in there.”
A Brave Rescue

Waves crashed over the struggling pup as it tried to steady itself. Concerned locals quickly called for help, and a fire and rescue team responded immediately. Their first attempt to lift the dog using a rope failed due to its slippery fur. Instead, one rescuer climbed down and carefully carried the frightened dog, later named Yt, in his arms.
Though terrified, Yt seemed to understand he was in safe hands. He remained still as his rescuer brought him back to solid ground.
A New Beginning
Once on land, Yt showed signs of skin irritation and injuries from his ordeal. Determined to help, Arcino took him in and provided the care he needed, including medicated baths and treatment.
βI wonβt give up on you,β Arcino wrote on Facebook. And he kept his word. What started as an act of kindness soon became something moreβArcino adopted Yt, giving him a permanent home.
A Happy Ending
Months later, Yt is thriving. No longer a frightened stray, he enjoys a life filled with love and security. Arcino often shares updates, proudly calling Yt βthe survivor.β
Thanks to the quick action of rescuers and the unbreakable bond with his new owner, Yt’s darkest days are behind him. His story is a testament to the power of compassion and second chances.
