They were both hiding adorable secrets …

Two Pregnant Dogs Rescued From Los Angeles Park After Weeks of Survival

Last month, California-based rescuer Suzette Hall, founder of Loganโ€™s Legacy 29, received a heartbreaking call for help. She has saved countless stray dogs across Los Angeles County, but this rescue was unlike anything she had faced before.

Abandoned Near Dodger Stadium

According to Hall, two small dogs were abandoned in one of the harshest environments imaginableโ€”a steep, rugged park near Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles.

โ€œThey were left with nothing but a thin blanket,โ€ Hall shared on Facebook. โ€œThey were alone, scared and surrounded by danger. Coyotes circled them more than once โ€” this is not an exaggeration โ€” and people literally had to fight them off to keep these girls alive.โ€

Neighbors reported hearing desperate barks from deep within the dry shrubs and thick bushes. The dogs had apparently been struggling there for nearly two weeks before anyone found them.

โ€œThank God someone heard them and began bringing food and water,โ€ Hall wrote. โ€œWithout that, they wouldnโ€™t have made it.โ€

A Difficult Rescue Mission

When Hall arrived at the scene, she realized saving the dogs wouldnโ€™t be easy. The terrain was so steep that she couldnโ€™t carry her usual traps up the mountain path.

โ€œSo I set them below and threw food upward, praying they would come down,โ€ she recalled. โ€œAnd by some miracle โ€ฆ one by one, they did.โ€

The moment both dogs entered the traps, Hall and her volunteers burst into tears.

โ€œThe isolation, the hopelessness, the sheer fight to live โ€” it was all behind them now. For the first time, they were safe.โ€

A Surprising Discovery

Hall rushed the dogs to Camino Pet Hospital, where she received shocking news: both pups, later named Chantilly and Cheyenne, were pregnant.

โ€œMy heart just sank,โ€ Hall wrote. โ€œNot only had they been trying to survive on their own, but their unborn babies were depending on them, too. To think of them giving birth out there, alone and unsafe, is unbearable.โ€

Thankfully, both dogs were placed in cozy foster homes where they could safely prepare to welcome their litters.

From Two Lives Saved to Sixteen

Just weeks later, the miracle unfolded. Chantilly gave birth to nine healthy puppies, while Cheyenne delivered five.

โ€œThe day I thought I was saving just two lives โ€ฆ I actually saved sixteen,โ€ Hall shared. โ€œSixteen beating hearts. Sixteen stories of survival. Sixteen little miracles.โ€

Thanks to Hallโ€™s rescue team and foster partner Second Leash On Life, Chantilly and Cheyenne are now raising their babies in safety and comfort.

Adoption in the Future

In a few months, once the puppies are old enough to be on their own, both the moms and their litters will be available for adoption. Until then, the families are thriving in foster care, surrounded by love.

โ€œAs I watch them snuggle, give sweet puppy kisses, and take their very first breaths of safety and love, I canโ€™t help but think, โ€˜This is what rescue is all about. From desperation to hope. From fear to family,โ€™โ€ Hall wrote.
