“My eyes locked with hers.”

Katie wasn’t planning to adopt a dog when she visited Cobb County Animal Shelter in Georgia. But then she saw a dog with soulful eyes looking at her from a kennel. The dog seemed scared and anxious, which made sense when Katie learned her story.

Just days earlier, someone had left the dog tied to a bench at a bus stop in the hot Georgia sun. Luckily, a Good Samaritan rescued her and brought her to the shelter. That’s where Katie and the dog, now named Roo, locked eyes.

Katie decided Roo wouldn’t spend another night without feeling safe. She took Roo home, and the transformation was remarkable. From a terrified pup, Roo became happy and relaxed.

Katie pampered Roo with homemade treats, baths, and lots of love. “She knew she was safe and loved again,” Katie wrote. After everything Roo went through, she finally found peace.

“She’ll always have a home with me,” Katie promised.
