“Maybe those just weren’t his people.”
When Bullet arrived at the Carson Animal Shelter in Los Angeles in mid-June, no one knew why. His family had surrendered him — but left no note, no reason, no explanation. Just silence.
“Most owners leave a note,” said Janallyn Vega, a shelter volunteer. “But his intake form was blank. We had no idea why they gave him up.”
As the days passed and the staff got to know Bullet, their confusion only deepened — because he was, by all accounts, the perfect dog.

“Bullet is basically a baby in a dog’s body,” Vega said. “He’s so affectionate, so gentle and sweet. Everyone who meets him falls in love.”
Hoping to find him a new family quickly, the shelter took Bullet to a local adoption event. From the moment he arrived, he lit up — thrilled by the attention, wagging his tail at kids, leaning into anyone who offered a kind hand.
“He was a total hit,” Vega said. “He greeted everyone. He was loving all the attention that he doesn’t usually get at the shelter. One family came really close to adopting him.”

But in the end, they changed their minds. And when the event wrapped up, every dog had found a home — except Bullet.
“He looked so sad. Just … defeated,” Vega said. “It broke our hearts. I honestly can’t tell you why he wasn’t chosen. He’s a dream dog. Maybe those people just weren’t his people.”
As Bullet was loaded into the shelter van, Vega pulled out her phone and filmed a short video. “I had to do something,” she said. “I had to help him find the person who was meant for him.”

She posted the video online — and within an hour, it went viral.
Thousands of people watched it. Shared it. Commented. The internet fell in love with the sweet, rejected pup who didn’t understand why he was always being left behind.
And two days later, Bullet found his family.
Today, he goes by the name Stitch — and fittingly, he has a rescue pittie sister named Lilo. The two are inseparable, and Stitch has fully embraced his new life of cuddles, long walks, and love. So much love.
He’ll never have to wonder what he did wrong. Never feel abandoned again. Because now, he’s home — for good.
