Join the Furball Farm adventure – an extraordinary outdoor cat shelter nestled in Faribault, Minnesota.

Crafted by the dedicated hands of staff and volunteers, this remarkable outdoor haven was designed to provide a playful sanctuary for dozens of once-feral rescues, helping them acclimate to the company of humans.

As reported by CBS, many of the cats at Furball Farm were once elusive and aloof, but now, thanks to the farm’s loving environment, most of them eagerly welcome human visitors.

Founder Julie Maverts initiated this project six years ago in her garage, aiming to offer a haven where feral cats, deemed unadoptable elsewhere due to behavioral issues, could thrive. Julie believes that while many feral cats grow up outdoors, introducing them to nature with love and tenderness serves as a powerful form of rehabilitation.

β€œWe exclusively accept cats from clinics, rescues, impound facilities, and humane societies, labeled unadoptable due to behavior,” states the Furball Farm website.

Over the years, Julie has provided a second chance to hundreds of strays, finding them forever homes. Generous donations enable her to offer low-cost spaying and neutering, along with flea and de-worming treatments.

Visitors are welcome between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m., and the facility is meticulously maintained by a dedicated team of volunteers – from those who contribute a couple of hours to those who dedicate much more.

β€œIt’s all about people caring for them. These cats aren’t mere strays struggling outside; they have a purpose-built haven. They can relish the weather, seek warmth when it’s cold, and find food when hungry. It’s their natural environment, and I believe they are much happier here,” expresses Maverts.

For the lively felines who enjoy the ‘zoomies,’ there’s ample space and grass to explore, while the vertically inclined cats can savor the climbing lattices and overhanging catwalks.
