Now, he’s unrecognizable ❤️
Dog Trapped on Rooftop for a Decade Finally Feels What It’s Like to Be Loved
For nearly ten years, a lonely dog paced the rooftop of a building in Mexico City — forgotten, neglected, and barely surviving. From far below, he looked like a shadow of what a happy dog should be, buried under layers of matted fur, without companionship or care.
To the world, he was a mystery. To those nearby, he was a heartbreaking fixture. Locals reported the situation to authorities time and time again, but no one came to help.
That is, until one family took a different approach — reaching out to Seres Libres A.C., a local animal rescue group.

When rescuers spoke with the dog’s owners, they managed to persuade them to surrender the dog — freeing him from his prison in the sky.
He didn’t just step down from that rooftop — he stepped into a new life.
Despite the physical toll of years in isolation, the dog’s spirit hadn’t dimmed. He was still gentle, curious, and quietly hopeful. So his rescuers named him Soñador — “Dreamer.”

At the vet clinic, volunteers began the long-overdue process of transformation. Over 10 pounds of heavy, matted fur were carefully removed. For the first time in years, Soñador could move freely — and smile.
“He smiles every time he wags his tail,” said Renata, president of Seres Libres A.C. “He has a lot of joy and he’s willing to live again.”
Now a senior, Soñador still faces health issues, but he’s tackling each one with that same resilient spirit that kept him going through a decade of rooftop solitude.

“He wants to know the world,” Renata said. “His attitude is amazing.”
The best part? Soñador’s story is far from over. People have already stepped forward, eager to adopt him — to give him the love and care he’s waited a lifetime to feel.
“He spent 10 years in those horrible conditions, and he likely has just a few years of life left,” Renata said. “But we’re going to make the best out of them. He’s going to have that happy ending.”
And for a dog who never stopped dreaming, there could be no better reward.
