Runaway Bulls Cause a Stir in North Attleboro, Massachusetts

Early Monday, officials in southern Massachusetts launched a search for a runaway bull after a herd escaped during a rodeo event at Emerald Square Mall on Sunday.

Caution Advised for Residents

North Attleboro Fire Chief Christopher Coleman urged community members to exercise extreme caution. β€œIf found, community members should call 9-1-1 and not approach the bull,” he stated.

The Great Escape

Dramatic footage captured by an onlooker showed the moment eight bulls leaped over a perimeter fence at around 12:30 p.m. during the one-day rodeo event. After escaping their pens, the bulls charged through the parking lot and made their way south into nearby woods.

Successful Corraling Efforts

While one bull was quickly recaptured, local police and firefighters, along with environmental police and rodeo staff, managed to corral six others about three miles away. Thankfully, no injuries were reported during the incident, though the rodeo event is currently under investigation.

Community Encounters

Chris Mooney, a resident of Attleboro, recounted his surprise at seeing the bulls stroll through his yard. β€œAs soon as I stepped out and looked, I realized those aren’t horses; those are literally bulls!” he told NBC Boston. He noted that two bulls were lying down while another was pushing against the fence in an attempt to escape.

Ongoing Search for the Last Bull

As the search continues for the remaining bull, authorities remain on high alert, ensuring the safety of both residents and the animals.
