“I was shocked.”

Recently, workers at an Amazon warehouse in Long Island, New York, noticed a surprise visitor: a fluffy cat hiding beneath one of their delivery trucks. For weeks, employees left out food for the mysterious feline, but when it became clear he wasn’t leaving, they called local rescuer John Debacker for help.

Using food as a lure, Debacker safely trapped the cat and scanned him for a microchip, expecting to find a nearby owner. Instead, the results floored him — the cat was registered in Bermuda, more than 700 miles away.

With help from the Bermuda SPCA, Debacker discovered the cat’s name: Frankie. At a vet visit, they learned he was around 15 years old. Sweet and affectionate, Frankie purred constantly, quickly charming his rescuer.

As Debacker dug deeper, Frankie’s remarkable story began to unfold. Born in the United Kingdom, Frankie first moved to Bermuda, then spent time with a family in Turks and Caicos. From there, he traveled to South Carolina, where he briefly lived before landing in a shelter. In 2017, a New York rescue pulled him from that shelter and brought him north — where he has remained ever since.

Because of his globe-trotting past, rescuers nicknamed him “Mr. Worldwide.”

Now, Frankie’s days of wandering are finally behind him. He’s safe at Last Chance Animal Rescue, where staff are determined to place him in a quiet, loving home to spend his golden years. After a lifetime of adventures, this seasoned traveler is ready to settle down — and enjoy the peace he so deserves.
